Same with basketball, look how they treated Jeremy Lin.
God damn, how much I miss the times of G-Unit being the highlight. Maybe it’s my nostalgia speaking, but I miss his hits.
Though I’m not the first king of controversy
I am the worst thing since Elvis Presley
To do black music so selfishly
And use it to get myself wealthy
Black vs White will always be a false dichotomy.
I feel that you can respect different cultures and their history while still participating in those cultural norms yourself.
I spent 17 years in martial arts learning Asian fighting styles as a white man. I have the utmost respect for the culture and heritage that I have been blessed to have the opportunity to learn from and be a part of.
I feel music is the same way. Music is not dictated by the color of your skin, or where you were born. You can absolutely appreciate and participate in the music of any culture that speaks to you.
Edit: a word.
Jazz is also “black music” yet white players came in and did very different things. Do you think miles davis hated benny goodman? If you do then you are a mistake.
I cannot fathom anyone doubting Eminem’s skill.
No matter what your tastes or preferences the man is undeniably a master of the craft.
“Hey Em, you know you my favorite white boy, right?”
People are out hard these past couple of days sticking up for Eminem.
Eminem is the Tiger Woods of rap.
As a foreigner a little too often I observe Americans feel they are defined by the color of their skins which is a completely ridiculous notion, just like in a country of peoplof the same color some decided to discriminate based on the color of the eyes.
Skin color is just a pigment, it’s a LOT more important the kind of person you are than what you look like. Eminem has a lot more in common with 50 cents than I have with either one of them.
Back when Mark Wahlberg was Marky Mark
Thank you for giving us your 50 cents on the issue.
Beasties Boys were the shit and everyone respected them. They were at the forefront of the movement. If you are real it won’t matter if you are white or not. Unfortunately white rappers lately have been a clown act.
Eminem, so hot right now. and I love it.
I know this thread is about em, but as a side note, every time 50 cent speaks, I love him more.
He’s an astute observer of the world around him with great insight. He should host a talk show.
52 Cents
i really like 50 cent. wish i liked his acting more but eyyy what are you gonna do
I haven’t been this excited about rap in a long time. He dropped a diss album that stirred up a shit storm of other artists responding with cool songs. For me, rap has been pretty stagnant for a long time. However you feel about Eminem as an artist, he definitely got a reaction.
