Netflix’s Stranger Things has become a pop-culture phenomenon, giving viewers a mix of nice throwback adventure, and some unique sci-fi mythos that included alternate dimensions, monsters, and psychic powers. While the show used some simple, Dungeon & Dragons-themed language to explain its jaunts into a nightmarish alternate dimension, “The Upside Down” actually draws on some complex real-life scientific theory.
