  1. From /r/games people seem to enjoy this game, however from guys like dunkey here and jim sterlings, its kinda trash. So is it good if I ignore all the money bullshit and technical problems, or is it worth it for 20$ later on. And theres different 8 versions I can buy so you know, I have that to think about.

  2. Since when did it become ok to put micro transactions into a stand alone, single player game to make leveling quicker?

    Is it really that bad in Odyssey?

  3. So, I’ve put about 15 hours into the game, and while it can feel grindy at times, I’m having a great time with it. Kassandra > Alexios

    I really don’t feel the microtransactions are that big a deal. To even find the store page, you actually have to go looking for it. It’s not as pervasive as something like Battlefront 2, which forced you to use them to be good in multiplayer. Or hell, Red Dead Redemption 2 is hiding a whole bank robbery mission behind a 80 dollar version. There’s an argument that Rockstar is matching prices to fit the game’s budget, but I hardly believe Rockstar is strapped for cash with the literal BILLIONS they made from GTA Online.

    I have found that if you do the main quests and the gold side quests, at least on Normal, you’ll level appropriately along the game’s main quest. And the gold missions are actually worth doing.

    And yes, I fucked that old lady.

  4. A question for those of you who have played this game, is it worth it if I already played Origins? I’m well aware of Dunkey’s biases when it comes to the AC franchise, so I don’t necessarily trust his take on the game here. He said that Origins was ass, but I played it and I enjoyed it a lot (which is coming from a guy who put the franchise down after AC 3). My main concern with Odyssey is that it seems **too** similar to Origins in the sense that it just looks like Origins with a coat of Classical Greek paint. What, if anything, has improved between Origins and this game that would make it worth my time? Also, how much truth is there to the issues Dunkey laid out in this video?

  5. I’m getting a little annoyed at people complaining about quests being level-gated. Obviously if you try to rush through the main story you’re obviously going to get out-levelled but that’s how you’re supposed to play this game, or really any RPG for that matter.

    Developers have to balance the game in a way that makes it playable for both people that want the meat of the game (the story and side quests) and those that want to do absolutely everything in the game (including all the collectibles, enemy hidouts etc.). They’ve done a good job of balancing it in this game, the problem is many reviewers seem to want to get through the game as quickly as possible and that’s when they run into problems.

    Now some people will say ‘just have a scaling difficult’, and Odyssey does have that, the problem is that when you scale everything to the player’s level there’s no real sense of progression. There’s no right answer to how levelling should be balanced and I don’t think any open world game has managed to pull it off perfectly. Ubisoft has done an okay job with Odyssey, in my experience if you do just a handful of sidequests and activities in each area you’ll get more than enough experience to do the main quest at a decent rate.

    That being said, screw gameplay-altering microtransactions. Ubisoft really needs to stop putting that crap in because people are always going to claim the game’s been tampered with to encourage people to pay up.

  6. He’s been known to skew info and bugs from games in order to just make the video funny. Personally, I’ve not had a problem with grinding in this game after ~40 hours or the need to get microtransactions (Yes it still is garbage to put them in a singleplayer game, they’ve been doing it primarily since AC:4 to Unity) but just saying you might want to double check with a different opinion on this game then relying on dunky

    >I’m sorry if you felt mislead by the video, but like nearly all of my videos some things are exaggerated or taken out of context to make the video more entertaining

    This was in regards to his Octopath Traveler video where he made the combat look boring by ignoring all of the mechanics, for MG: Survive he claimed the game has no means of fast travel, even though it does and forces you to use it

  7. Complaining about micro-transactions, especially when they are as subtle as in Odyssey, is such a shitty fad right now. It’s so lazy and I see so many thirsty creators falling back on it.

    Should it be talked about when it’s really abusive? Yes. Should it be pressured to go away entirely? Sure. Should it be sensationalized the way it is in this video? I don’t think so.

  8. This one didn’t even have the energy of his old stuff. This is just him rambling about things he doesn’t like, in a way that sounds like we should take him seriously. It just sounds like someone complaining with a significant amount of negative bias. Compare it to his MGS 5 video.

    Did he make any jokes there were funny? I didn’t hear one.

    WTF are you doing dunkey?

  9. Gonna disagree with Dunkey here. I am not a fan of the AC series, never have been, and I actually really like Odyssey. You have to remember that this isn’t Dark Souls or even The Witcher. It’s made for a mass audience, and that means a lot of the systems are simplistic. But he doesn’t mention a lot of the really smart design decisions they made, like allowing you to find map points by searching from NPC descriptions, rather than just going to a point on a compass, or the nice implementation of the bow in combat or as a sniper weapon.

    You can also literally play this game for free right now on Google’s streaming service, so…

  10. His comedy isn’t as subtle as it used to be and the points he makes goes over 90% of the audience’s head.

    There’s a reason why I prefer LoL dunkey when he had 50k subs than this dunkey.

  11. Glad someone is calling it out, don’t understand the praise it gets in the slightest.

    Playable character force stuck with a novelty lore spearhead in my lefthand? Can’t use a shield in a Spartan War era game? What the fuck are you doing Ubi. Big joke.

  12. Im really disappointed in the story…

    It seemed like it was going to be so cool right up until you go to make your first real choice… Afterward, I realized pretty quickly that the rest of the game would likely be following it’s example.

    Stealing means nothing. Allying with Sparta or Athens is absolutely pointless if non-existent. Romances mean jack shit. Crew members become a pawn with no story or interaction once on your boat. Even as an “open world” game you’re forced into very linear gameplay because of level requirements for areas. I love the theme but the game is very underwhelming.

  13. I don’t know If I’m just lucky or unaware but I hardly come across these bugs that reviewers always seem to have a boatload of footage of.Is there a way to bug a game out easier so they can shit on it or what?

  14. * **microtransactions**
    * Standard Edition
    * *Deluxe* Edition
    * **Gold** Edition
    * **/Ultimate/** Edition
    * Day 1 DLC

    This game has too many arguments to buy it. In 2 years we have diamond, platinum and immortal edition as well.

  15. I don’t understand reddit when it comes to games like this. They’re good games and you don’t have to spend shit over the base price and get well over $60 worth of entertainment. I love a lot of Ubisoft games and have never had a problem with any of the shit y’all always complain about.
