BET had the unique opportunity to rebrand/revitalize the month long celebration of women in February. The idea behind this campaign was to make the month relevant, cool and inspire young people with the core message “Women Making History Now.” Highlighted in these spots are women who were “First” in their field: 1) Ava DuVernay, first African American to win Best Director at Sundance, 2) Misty Copeland, first African American female soloist for the American Ballet Theatre and 3) Mae Jemison, first African American woman in space.
