If you were travelling at the speed of light everything around you would appear to progress infinitely fast. You’d see the entire life of the universe in an instant.
This is scientifically not accurate in the visual sense, you will see distortion (gravitational) and blue shift from the Cosmic Background Radiation (radiation wavelengths shift all the way to visible blue light spectrum) and that’s just to name a few shortcomings…
Vsause (YT channel) has at least a few videos explaining how travelling at the speed of light would actually look like.
Give the above criticism, I still thought it was neat.
Correct me if I’m wrong but this video is only relative to time passing on the surface of the earth, not relative to whoever is flying on that beam of light. On that beam of light, it would be instantaneous to travel.
Damn, this really puts lights relatively “slow” speed into perspective when compared with the size of our universe. Unless we can develop a warp drive or some crazy teleportation device or gain access to another bizarre dimension, we’re pretty much stuck here.
This reminds me of this Youtube comment I saw couple days ago.
> Humanity is stupid and much. Only a braindead can accept lightspeed. A star that is at 10 light years away, light needs 10 years to rich there. But our eye reach there instantly :)). Look, there is a star 10 light years away!!! I don’t have to say more. Either you think or you can’t think.
Some guy in the year 5090: “Dude, remember when Popular Mechanics said we’d be traveling at 10 times the speed of light by now? What a bunch of crap. We’ve been traveling at light speed since the 60’s, man.”
It is technically incorrect to label this as ‘from the perspective. Technically if travelling at the speed of light you would only see black behind you and white infront of you
this is really cool . remarkable perspective on how fast light is, and how incomprehensible the size of the universe must be in order to swallow it up
Lol 45 minutes, I didn’t even make it 30 seconds.
Yeah no.

Relativity yo.
freeboot

Not pictured: The million or so years it took for the photon to reach the surface of the sun via a random walk.
This is incorrect. You’d travel from the sun to the edge of the universe in an instant from the point of view of light speed.
300,000 kilometres per second does seems quite slow on the grand scale of things

Love this.
I never really understood the distance of objects in space until I played Elite Dangerous. Seriously, give that game a go.
Makes me want to rewatch The Expanse and play Kerbal Space Program

it might just be me, but if i am traveling the speed of light id at least want to look where im going.

Sets playback speed to 2x.. and they said traveling faster than light was impossible ha!

Wow these noobs didn’t even know about warp drives. LOL
