I one ran over a snake while riding a bicycle in Tulum thinking it was a tree branch. It was dusk time and the snake ended up hissing and almost biting my gf who was riding behind me.

Here’s a theory: dead snake, laid on the road by some kids. It has fishing line tied to it. Kids pull the fishing line when a car approaches so that people think the snake is alive.
