The sign in the back says she got hit by a serve that was 225 km/hr or 139 mph. By the time it hit her it obviously slowed down a bit but it still hit her hard and she didn’t flinch when it was coming at her. And then she was going to stay in. I’d say she’s pretty tough.
So I know that ballgirls/boys in tennis are supposed to be like emotionless labrador retrievers mixed with Buckingham Palace guards, but every time I see one they seem like hostages with their families being held at gunpoint.
When I was in middle school I was a ball boy for a Masters series tournament in my city. During a match I was at the back of the court like this girl, and a player came to me and asked if I could tuck his shirt in. Without really thinking about it, being in the middle of a match with a big audience, I obliged. It didn’t really bother me, and I didn’t think much of it. I also did the bare minimum of ‘tucking’, I didn’t stick my hands all up in there. When I got off the court the two guys who managed all the ball people talked to me about the incident and how it was inappropriate. The player also got a talking to, and felt terrible about it. He offered to apologize to me personally, but I didn’t really care about the incident and said it wasn’t necessary. The player didn’t want to tuck his own shirt in because it was sweaty, which would make his hand more sweaty, which would affect his grip. The other ball people then made fun of me afterward to having tucked in the players shirt.
Always seemed nuts to me they get people to stand back there with their hands behind their back willing to take 200 kh/m balls to the face if they get unlucky.
Great sportsmanship on both players. Cilic was given a repeat 1st serve due to Del Potro’s attention to the girl, but he declined the advantage. Both player showed excellent form here.
her eyes says it all.
Then the other concedes the first service. All around gentlemen right here.

For me, what’s more painful would be he attention I’d be getting from getting hit.
140mph…. Right in the mons.
“Oy! He hit the little kid! Get em!”
why did the tennis player need to do that? Isn’t there like a manager of these girls who should have subbed her out? Or the referee?
That’s the way Happy Gilmore trains for hockey season
What a champ, I thought for sure she was going to hold her gut but then she just straightened her shirt and carried on!
BRING FORTH THE NEXT SACRIFICE
Would have been comedy if he then goes on to serve the *next* girl one too.
Why is this mirror image? Or is it just me?
Scott Sterlings daughter everyone.

I’d like to show this video to a soccer player every time he flops on the ground in agony from a finger brushing against him.

The girl probably was more hurt by being told to leave than by getting hit by the ball.
And I’m not saying the ball didn’t hit hard.
Those watery eyes and stern determination can bring out the dad in even the hardest men.
Her composure is amazing. Soft or not, that ball was speeding.

Literally a redshirt, 100% expendable
Back in the 80s Swedish tennis legend Stefan Edberg essentially killed an umpire with a serve to his nuts. http://legendsrevealed.com/sports/2012/11/23/did-stefan-edberg-really-once-kill-a-man-with-his-tennis-serve/comment-page-1/
“you okay?”
“no, i am fucking far from okay.”
