  1. Haven’t watched it yet, but I’m assuming its because of the 50hz rate of alternating current affecting the lighting vs America’s 60hz rate. Similarly, USA uses a 30/60 framerate as typical for capturing video while Europe uses 25/50 fps. So if you take an American-standard camera and shoot video in europe, or vice-versa, there will be an oscilation syncronization difference.

  2. Not just Europe.

According to Wikipedia: A voltage of (nominally) 230 V and a frequency of 50 Hz is used in Europe, most of Africa, most of Asia, much of South America and Australia. In North America, the most common combination is 120 V and a frequency of 60 Hz.

So get your voltage up America, jeez.

  3. Damn thought i didn’t get the notification for a tom scott video then got a few seconds in and it all sounded very familiar jan 2014….. Man we’re old now

  4. The really silly thing about this is how easy it’d be to fix… why aren’t the smartphone makers just including a 50/60Hz switch like every cheap CCD webcam ever made?
