Where do you think F1 gets its drivers. Karting is huge for these kids to move into F1 since they start racing so young. An example is Lewis Hamilton who Karted for 7 years before being picked up by Formula Renault Winter Series at 16 (i think it was 16)

My very first time starting to race was in Karts. Loved it. When I turned 14 we got to do the even bigger and faster Karts and I miss that so much. Even though I’m 27 and go to some little fun place with Karts I still do it. Always fun no matter how old you are.
Well by the time they reach the third turn there’s already more passes than an entire F1 race.
If you’ve been following F1 for the last few years , you’ll realize five minutes of this race is more satisfying to watch than the entire year of a “parades starring Mercedes” F1 has been.
This is so insane expensive, to compete at the top you have to have a full sensor suite and shit hooked up and be tuning the suspension for each track etc. It’s pretty crazy that all that is needed even at the lowest levels of racing these days.

Holy fuck. That was amazing. One thing not often talked about in racing is just how exhausting it is. Race car drivers aren’t often thought of as athletes but they absolutely are. I’ve done this kind of racing before and even at this level it is a fucking workout and a half what with all the G’s you constantly have to fight, every turn holding on to your weight for dear life. It’s amazing that these kids have the stamina to race at this level.

I used to race these from age 9-16. Won a national championship for an old Italian team called Inter-Kart. Miss it. It was a lot of fun.
